Under what circumstances are rigid couplings used?

作者: Published: 2020-11-27

Flange coupling and slider coupling are collectively referred to asRigid coupling. The material of the flange coupling can be gray cast iron or carbon steel, and cast steel or forged steel should be used under heavy load or when the peripheral speed is greater than 30 m/s.
Disadvantages: Flange couplings have high requirements for the neutrality of the two shafts. When the two shafts have relative displacement, they will cause additional loads in the machine parts and worsen the working conditions. This is its main disadvantage.
Advantages: But due to its simple structure, low cost, and large torque transmission, it is often used when the speed is low, there is no impact, the rigidity of the shaft is large, and the neutrality is good.Flange coupling is the use of bolts to connect two flange (flange) disc type half couplings, and the two half couplings are respectively connected with two shafts by keys to realize the two shaft connection and transmit torque and movement. The flange coupling is simple in structure, convenient to manufacture, low in cost, reliable in operation, easy in assembly and disassembly and maintenance, and has a large transmission torque, which can ensure high centering accuracy of the two shafts. It is generally used for stable load. High-speed or high-precision shafting transmission. The flange coupling does not have radial, axial and angular compensation performance. If the centering accuracy of the two shafts cannot be guaranteed during use, it will reduce the service life, transmission accuracy and transmission efficiency of the coupling, and cause vibration And noise.
The bolts on the flange can all be bolts for reaming holes, or half of them can be bolts for reaming holes, and the other half can be ordinary bolts.
The advantages of the slider coupling: It consists of two half couplings with grooves on the end faces and a middle disc with convex teeth on both sides.Because the convex teeth can slide in the groove, the relative displacement between the two shafts during installation and operation can be compensated. The material of this coupling part can be 45 steel, and the working surface needs to be heat treated to increase its hardness. The flange coupling is a rigid coupling, which uses ordinary flat keys to separate two flanged half couplings. Connect with the two shafts, and then use bolts to connect the two half couplings into one body to transmit movement and torque.
The cross slide coupling has two main structural forms: ①The two-axis alignment is achieved by reaming holes and bolts, and the bolt rod is subjected to extrusion and shearing to transmit torque; ②On a half-coupling The shoulder of the coupling is matched with the groove on the other half coupling to be centered. The bolts connecting the two half couplings can use ordinary bolts of grade A and B, and the torque is transmitted by the friction torque of the joint surface of the two half couplings.
